Selling an old phone to a proper buyer is quick, but a few documents make it smoother and protect you after the sale. Here is what to keep ready.
1. A government ID
Keep one of these handy at pickup:
- Aadhaar card
- PAN card
- Driving licence
- Voter ID
- Passport
The agent photographs the ID and records it on your receipt. This shows the phone was sold by its owner, which protects you if questions come up later. Be wary of any buyer who pays cash for a phone without recording anything; it leaves you with no proof of sale.
2. The original bill (helps, not mandatory)
The purchase bill proves where the phone came from and whether it is still under warranty. With the bill you get a slightly better price. Without it you can still sell; the ID covers the ownership record.
3. The original box
The box carries the IMEI sticker, which should match the phone. A matching box adds a little to the price and makes the phone easier to verify. Find out how to check your IMEI number.
4. Charger and accessories
Not documents, but they count. Each missing item, such as the charger, cable or box, lowers the offer slightly. Keep them together with the phone.
5. Your payment details
Decide how you want to be paid: UPI, bank transfer or cash. For UPI or bank transfer, keep your UPI ID or account details ready. The payment reference is recorded on your receipt.
What you get after the sale
SellEazy emails a PDF receipt for every phone it buys. It includes:
- The phone model, storage and IMEI
- The agreed price
- Payment method and reference
- Your ID details and the date of sale
Keep it with your records.
Before the agent arrives
- Back up your data and sign out of your accounts. iPhone users: remove your Apple ID first.
- Factory reset the phone, or be ready to do it in front of the agent.
- Remove your SIM and memory card.
- Charge the phone so it can be tested.
Sell your phone with doorstep pickup
SellEazy picks up anywhere in Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad, usually within 24 hours of booking. The phone is inspected in front of you, and once you accept the offer you are paid the same day by UPI, bank transfer or cash, with a PDF receipt for the sale.
